UK Business Check

Check a UK company before you pay it

UK Business Check is a plugin for ChatGPT and Claude. Give your assistant a company name or number and it gets back one plain verdict, with the reasons.

Looks fineActive, filings up to date, no worrying notices.
Be carefulSomething needs a second look, such as overdue accounts, a very new company or a strike off notice.
Don't pay themNot trading normally. In liquidation, dissolved, or with insolvency notices.

What it checks

Company status, insolvency history, insolvency and strike off notices in The Gazette, overdue accounts or confirmation statement, proposals to strike off, returned post, disputed addresses, how old the company is, and recent changes of directors or address.

Where the answers come from

Only public records: the Companies House register and The Gazette, the UK's official public record. Every answer links to the company's Companies House page so you can see for yourself.

What it can't tell you

A clean record does not prove a business is honest or that its work is any good. Sole traders and ordinary partnerships are not on Companies House at all. Always make sure the company number on your invoice or quote matches the one checked. This is not financial or legal advice.
